Iran is ready to cooperate with "any country," including the United States, in building nuclear power plants, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman says.

When asked whether Iran would cooperate with the US on future nuclear projects, Ramin Mehmanparast said, “We are ready to cooperate with any company from any country which is capable of building such facilities with high standard.”

“These are big economic projects and there will certainly be much competition between different countries,” he added.

Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), announced on Monday that Iran plans to build at least 10 new uranium enrichment sites.

He said the construction of one of these facilities would start by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2011) or the beginning of next year.

Iran's first nuclear power plant in the southern city of Bushehr will go online on August 21.

Fuel for the plant, which is provided by Russia, will be gradually fed into it in the coming weeks, Mehmanparast said.

Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony in Bushehr.
